Sample log
What a finished log looks like.
A real Shot Logger deliverable — card-by-card structure, inline transcripts, cross-camera navigation and a linked contents page. Every element you see here appears in every project we deliver.
How the log is structured
Six things that make it useful
in the edit.
Total word count, file count and duration at a glance. Gives the editor and producer an instant sense of scale before they open a single card.
Footage is organised by camera card — not by scene, not by camera, not by day. This mirrors exactly how the media arrives from the shoot.
Every piece-to-camera and interview clip is marked with ★ so editors can scan a card and immediately identify where the talent speaks.
WS, MS, MCU, CU and ECU used consistently throughout. Production standard, not made up — your team will read it fluently without a key.
Where a second camera covers the same scene, the clip entry links directly to the matching angle in the other card. No hunting. No cross-referencing by hand.
Dialogue is embedded directly in the clip entry with full speaker labels. You get the words and the context together, not in a separate column or a different document.
